KNOWN HISTORY:This Beautiful Papier Mache Doll has been in my collection for only a few years. She was purchased at a doll show held in Glendale California.A dealer at the doll show thought she was possibly made in Italy or Poland in the 1930-1940s. DOLL FEATURES:Her entire body is constructed of the same Papier Mache material and has very nice color. Her head, arms and legs move and pose. She is a large doll of 21" tall.Her blond mohair is nicely preserved and in it's original hair style embellished with tiny flowers and ribbons on each side. Her painted on facial features are full color and very nice. She has sleep eyes with very nicely preserved black eyelashes.Finger nails are delicately painted and light pink embellishment to her elbows, back of hands and knees. Very Cute! The Doll is in very nice condition for her age! The only imperfections noted on the doll herself are some crazing in the paint inside the left hand palm. (Not noticeable in photo.) There is a small crack in the paint on her right elbow. (See Photo)No offensive odors detected.CLOTHES:Her clothes are sewn shut in back and do not remove from her body. So any small imperfections underneath are not detectable as removal might damage the garments.She is wearing a light blue dress with light pink embellishments. The slip and undergarment are sewn together and made of a woven cotton fabric then a separate fragile sheer layer of fabric finish the dress. The sheer layer has worn through in various spots due to age. Mostly on the back view of the dress bodice. (See Photo) She is wearing some cotton socks and white vinyl shoes tied with matching pink vintage ribbon.
